Starshemah received her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling with concentration in Community Mental Health from Carlow University in 2010. She has worked and served a variety of people including children, adolescents, adults, as well as families. Over the past several years, she has transitioned from community mental health to outpatient therapy where she has acquired additional skills and training to help serve the community via psychotherapy, family therapy and behavioral therapy. As an outpatient therapist, she pursed additional certification as Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor in 2016 from Carlow University. Working within this capacity, Starshemah has gained the experience addressing mental health issues such as dual diagnosis, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, family conflict, grief and loss, and trauma. She has developed a love and passion for working with children and adolescents to guide them to develop positive identify of self-worth. In effort of developing positive identity, she has facilitated a group “We are Beautiful; Cultivating the Beauty Within” which teaches children and adolescents to embrace the beauty of characteristics and qualities that are within them. Starshemah believes that God has given her the opportunity to be the person to provide support, compassion, and understanding to help others overcome the hurdles of life.
