Kristin Barnes, MA, MFT

Kristin Barnes

Kristin studied Marriage & Family Therapy at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS. During her time in Jackson, and later in Miami, FL, she worked with many clients from diverse backgrounds. She feels comfortable working with couples, adult individuals, adolescents, parent-child dyads, whole families, as well as young children. She has training in Internal Family Systems Therapy (as displayed to some degree in the movie Inside Out), play therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, PREPARE premarital counseling, and many other ideological approaches. Due to her seminary training, Kristin is very comfortable integrating her Christian faith and her psychological training. Kristin came to love Jesus at a very young age, and shares this love with her three young children. She has wrestled with many difficult life experiences, and understand the unique challenges in long-term caring situations, having grown up in a family blessed with a special needs child. Kristin feels grateful for the privilege of walking with her clients through some of their darkest and most challenging times.
